The load shedding situation, he said, will get better in a few days, he added. Mahsud was briefing reporters on Tuesday.
He said that the Pecpo did not have the required quantity of oil and gas in the last few months and that aggravated the power situation.
He said that Pepco required 3,200 tons of oil daily but was getting as little as 1,200 tons which caused the 4,000 MW short fall. He said that another 1,000 MW short fall was due to the shortage of natural gas. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited had cut up to 20 per cent of gas to all Pepco plants, he said.
He also said that till June 2011, a total of 1,148 MW of electricity would be added to the national grid, from which more than 800 MW had already been added. “This will definitely provide some relief.”
