A Sharjah charity in collaboration with Malala Fund has donated $700,000 to support a girl's school in the Swat Valley of Pakistan, reported Gulf News.
The Sharjah based 'The Big Heart Foundation' (TBHF) is funding the school project in collaboration with Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai's Malala Fund. The school, being constructed in Malala's home district, will open doors to 350 girls after construction is complete. The construction, which is in its second phase, is expected to be completed by April 2018.

The collaboration was announced in the presence of Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, The Big Heart Foundation’s humanitarian envoy, and Malala Yousafzai, in Oxford, England, following an agreement signed by Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of TBHF, and Farah Mohammad, CEO of Malala Fund, reported Gulf News.
"The school, which will be funded by The Big Heart Foundation, will be a starting point for hundreds of young girls in Pakistan, because education is their right, and it is a fundamental duty to support this all over the world," said Al Qasimi on Twitter.

“I overwhelmingly thank The Big Heart Foundation for believing in my dream of a world where girls can choose their own future path. With their support, the Malala Fund can provide education for girls in my hometown, Swat Valley in Pakistan,” said Malala at the occasion.

The donation, while covering half of the project's financial needs will be used to build classrooms, science and computer labs, staff rooms, a library and a dormitory for female teachers from remote areas.
TBHF will also partially cover first two years operational costs which includes staff salaries, medical and security expenses, uniforms, books and stationary.
