This was stated by Punjab Schools Education Minister Rana Mashhood on Monday. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Khadim-e-Punjab Next Generation Schools Initiative Programme at Government APS Girls High School, Model Town.
The minister said the use of information and communication technologies in school education by the Punjab government had helped in achieving the targets of educational reforms programme.
He said, “Due to these programmes, students have access to world-class education.
As a result, educated and self-confident youth leadership has been developed which has benefitted the whole country.”
He added under the programme, latest IT lab, science lab, health lab, art rooms and early childhood education rooms along with food lab were established to provide best congenial atmosphere to the students.
He said that latest facilities would help improve the intellect of these budding minds. He said that modern labs would be introduced in 300 schools in the first phase of the programme.
Mashhood said the initiative would ensure quality education and capabilities of teachers would also be enhanced.
He maintained that Rs345 billion had been allocated for the educational budget and informed that 90,000 students of the brick kiln workers were also being provided free educational facilities by the government.
“Punjab is the only province where education is being imparted through smart boards and a strategy has been introduced for providing missing facilities in public sector schools so the students can study in a more conducive atmosphere,” the minister added.
Punjab School Education Department Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik said that 8,000 IT labs and 11,000 early childhood educational rooms had been set up in schools situated in different districts of the province. “Similarly, technical and vocational education is being imparted in 1,109 schools and Danish schools are providing free education to the needy students,” he said.
On the occasion, the minister inspected different sections and expressed satisfaction over the quality of facilities provided at the school.
