MUZAFFARGARH: A woman was killed under the debris of a wall after a van ploughed into her house near the Sheher Sultan-Jatoi road in Basti Arif on Monday.
Bakhto Mai was home when a van crashed into her living room and ran her over. According to police officials, she was killed instantly after the debris of the wall landed on her. Jatoi police have registered an FIR and arrested driver Fazal Qadeer.
Police officials said that Qadeer was driving while drunk and had placed a brick on the accelerator of the vehicle.
“He was practically asleep while he was driving the van,” said Inspector Imran Latif.
Rescue officials sent Bakhto Mai’s body to the nearby DHQ Hospital following the accident but doctors said the woman was dead on arrival.
Bakhto Mai’s family and village locals have expressed their shock and grief over the incident.
“It is shocking that she could die in a car accident while she was watching television in her home,” said her daughter Rohaila.
