DASKA:

Singer and Sahara for Life Trust chairman Abrarul Haq visited the Aas treatment facility for drug addicts on Friday.

The treatment hospital in Daska is being successfully run by the local NGO Young Blood Foundation in Daska.

The Young Blood Foundation chairman Bashir Ahmed Naz, president Tanveer Ahmed Mughal, general secretary Haji Zahid Jehangir, social workers and senior journalists were also present on the occasion and thanked the singer for making an appearance.

Abrar commended the services of the Daska based hospital and the charity workers for helping drug addicts. He said that the rehabilitation of addicts was a great service. “This place is giving these patients a new life. It is giving them a second chance to rebuild their lives,” he said. Talking to reporters, Abrarul Haq revealed that the NGOs could also play a pivotal role in introducing a crime free society. He said that the NGOs were responsible for raising issues that the government was overlooking. “The primary purpose of these organisations is to raise awareness so that we all can pitch in and help those in need,” he said. Abrar said that civil society and the authorities needed to collaborate to ensure that society prospers. “We can’t keep blaming the government for everything that is wrong with us. We need to lend a helping hand and do our share,” he added.
