It Runs In The Family: Saman Harris Mirza and Mina Adeel Shahid

Saman Harris Mirza, Fashion designer at Usme and Saman and Mina Adeel Shahid, Make-up artist and Director at Yaya Design Studio, talk sisterhood. From their favourite childhood memories to why they can’t live without each other, these sisters share it all!



What’s your first memory of each other?

Saman: I remember her as a cute, chubby kid with two front teeth.

Mina: My first memory of my sister is that we used to drape around our mother’s dupattas as saris and dance to Palki Mein Hoke.

What is the craziest thing you have done together?

Saman: Being only two sisters, there is a list of crazy things we have done together which should not be shared!

Mina: Things that are too crazy to be revealed here, but I’ll say we are partners in crime!

What did you get punished for the most as a child?

Saman: Don’t remember being punished but I was scolded many times.

Mina: I was too cute to be punished!

If you could only wear one piece of clothing for the rest of your life, from the others closet, what would it be?

Saman: Mina’s cozy black pjs.

Mina: If not clothes I’d steal one of her bags!



If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you would do?

Saman: Buy small sized stylish clothes haha.

Mina: She is so talented! I would definitely want her creative streak!

What is the one thing you love about your sibling?

Saman: It’s hard to love one thing about her! We share everything and it’s impossible to live without talking to each other every day. She is my best friend!

Mina: She is a very giving and responsible person.



If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up?

Saman: We don’t fight but if we do we simply apologise and forget.

Mina: Wow! I can’t even recall the last time we fought.

What is the one secret talent your sibling has, that you wish you did too?

Saman: She has a lot of patience to deal with anything that comes her way.

Mina: She is that one person I always look up to! So multitalented yet makes it look so easy.

Describe your sibling in three words:

Saman: Beautiful, charming and loyal.

Mina: Beautiful, selfless and responsible.



Which fictional character is your sibling most like?

Saman: Minnie Mouse, haha!

Mina: Snow White! Innocent and fair haha.

How are your personalities similar?

Saman: We are complete opposites.

Mina: Not at all! Same blood but different planets.

I can’t live without my sister because…

Saman: She is like my baby.

Mina: I am completely dependent on her.
