KARACHI: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) employees and officers on Tuesday formed a joint action committee to work for the sacking of Director General (DG) Civil Aviation Air Marshall (retd) Asim Suleiman.

The committee, which includes various unions and associations, has also decided to launch a ‘Go DG Go’ movement. It will hold an emergency press conference at the terminal one of Karachi airport on Wednesday (today).

A notification passed by the committee has also taken a strict stance against the use of abusive language and inappropriate attitude of the CAA DG.

According to the joint action committee, they cannot stand the destruction of the institution. They have warned that if the DG is not removed, then the movement of “Go DG Go” will be extended and severe protests will be launched on all airports of the country.

If matters are still not resolved, then the committee has resolved to go ahead with lockup initiative.

The joint action committee has made it clear that if any harm was to come to the employees during the protests they would take legal action against the authority.

On the other hand, the support for Asim Suleiman has started diminishing rapidly as more employees have joined the protest.

Apart from the project directors of the under-construction Islamabad airport, Peshawar and Quetta airports, the authority’s association of electronic engineers also dispatched four letters to aviation secretary, chairman CAA board and Aviation Division of the Cabinet.

The four letters which were written by the association of electronic engineers, project directors of the under-construction Islamabad airport, and project directors of Peshawar and Quetta airport also spoke of the degrading attitude of the DG.

The number of letters written on Tuesday has now taken the written number of complaints against CAA DG to seven.
