Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR) on Tuesday announced plans to hold a Tajdar Khatam-e-Nabuwat Conference to mark the 40 days of mourning for their followers who had died in clashes during the Faizabad protest in November 2017.

The group’s leaders including Khadim Husain Rizvi and Pir Afzal Qadri told a news conference at the Jamia Ziaul Uloom Atta Habib in Rawalpindi on Tuesday that religious scholars and spiritual leaders from across the country would be addressing the conference in Rawalpindi.

Caravans of people supporting our ideology are streaming in from far off areas of Sindh and Balochistan,” claimed TLYR leader Rizvi. Qadri said their struggle was ideological and were against the use of violence. “We will render any sacrifice for our religion and country,” he said while lauding the efforts of the army in guarding the physical and ideological frontiers of the country.

In November, hundreds of followers and supporters of TLYR had camped on the edge of the capital, blocking the busy Faizabad interchange, to protest against a swiftly-overturned amendment to the election law.
