The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Friday held a seminar to promote the Islamic concept of ‘Ijtihad’ for addressing contemporary socio-economic issues.
The seminar was part of a series of `Khutbat-e-Islamabad’ arranged by the university’s department of Islamic Thoughts, Culture and History.
AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui in his message said such discussions are aimed to help construct and disseminate knowledge relating to Islamic concepts which are relevant to the modern society. Dr Siddiqui underlined the important role of educational institutions in projecting Islamic teachings and addressing the socio-economic issues, faced by the people.
