The victim’s body was found from a park along the Expressway on Friday morning. Officials, though, have yet to identify her.
“There were signs of torture to her face with blood oozing out of her nose,” a homicide investigator told The Express Tribune. “Apparently she was strangled to death,” the officer said, adding that the women, who looked to be around 26-years-of-age had her shirt torn at the neck, suggesting that she had probably resisted her attackers as she was assaulted.
Police believe the woman was killed sometime in the night.
The greenbelt, where the body was found, has a walking and jogging track and is frequented by people till around 9pm in the evening, officers said.
Investigators said that they had also found some broken bangles, broken headphones and a hair clip near the body which suggests that the woman was assaulted and killed on the spot rather than being killed at another location before being transported to the spot and being dumped.
The officer added that they did not find any documents on the woman’s body which could give them a clue about her identity.
Police resorted to making announcements from nearby mosques about the woman, however, officials said that no one has come forward to claim the body or to offer any clues to her identity.
Man found dead
Meanwhile, a man was found dead in a house in Sector I-10/1 on Friday evening.
Police said the deceased hailed from Mardan and worked as a security guard in the federal capital.
He too was found dead with blood oozing from his nose. However, officials said that the man had a history of high blood pressure and diabetes and is believed to have died of natural causes.
Police suspect that a brain haemorrhage may have dealt him the fatal blow.
After completing legal formalities, his body was handed over to his family for burial.
