Complete monitoring of crushing season is being ensured to provide maximum facilities for growers, Punjab Provincial Secretary for Food Shokat Ali said after visiting different sugar mills in Jhang. The provincial secretary visited Shakar Ganj, Hunza and Haq Bahu Sugar Mills and met with representatives of growers and mills’ administrations. Later, he told media personnel that he had directed mills’ administrations to continue crushing and provide maximum relief to the growers. He said mills had been asked not to deduct the weight and ensure payment of the sanctioned Rs180 per 40 kg to the growers. He directed DC Jhang to take strict action against unlawful sale points of sugarcane crop and to discourage the role of middlemen to avoid growers’ exploitation. Ali said that a representative of district administration and growers should monitor crushing season.
