Health facilities: 500-bed Cantonment Hospital being renovated in Pindi

PM briefed about project which also includes a medical college in long-term plans

ISLAMABAD: A 500-bed hospital in the cantonment areas of Rawalpindi is being renovated to better serve the residents of surrounding areas — whether they live within in or outside the cantonment.

This was detailed in a briefing on revamping the Cantonment Hospital in Rawalpindi to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the Prime Minister House on Tuesday.

Military Lands and Cantonments director general briefed the premier about the health facilities being provided to residents as well as non-residents of cantonment areas at the hospital.

He also detailed the renovation plans, including plans for equipping the facility with the latest medical equipment and provision of better health services to the people.

The prime minister was told that apart from ensuring that the 500-bedded health facility was fully functional, a medical college was also part of the upgrade plans.

Abbasi observed that ensuring availability of adequate health facilities to the citizens, especially catering to the health needs of the poor segments of society, was among the foremost priorities of his government. He added that the federal government will extend all possible support to the hospital, enabling it to serve the community in a more efficient manner.

Eng. Khurram Dastgir Khan, Minister for Defence, MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed, Secretary Finance and senior officers attended the briefing.
