Local Christian leaders said minorities had been playing a pivotal role in national progress, prosperity, peace and sovereignty of Pakistan. The day dawned with enthusiastic exchange of Christmas gifts among the family members and friends.

Christmas trees and churches were decorated and illuminated by the Christians in Sialkot, Uggoki, Sambrial, Daska, Bhopalwala, Aadha, Pasrur, Badiana, Chawinda and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, PML-N MPA Muhammad Akram said there was a dire need of interfaith harmony for the development and progress of Pakistan.
He said this while addressing a ceremony in connection with Christmas celebrations at Holy Trinity Cathedral Church. He said that minorities were enjoying full freedom in Pakistan and the government was providing protection to them.
