The engagement photos show the Suits actor donning a Ralph and Russo couture dress from the Autumn Winter 2016/2017 collection. The "black tulle gown with silk organza, hand appliquéd with silk tulle ruffles and embroidered with gold feather thread-work" cost a whopping £56,000.
People are outraged as it costs twice as the average wage in the UK. One woman posted on Facebook, "I think it’s obscene that she would spend that kind of money particularly when she’s been to countries to see what that kind of money could buy to help starving kids or vaccinate against disease."
Others also tweeted on Meghan's choice of attire.

Not sure wearing a £56,000 dress for her engagement pictures will endear Meghan Markle to the British public!

However, in Meghan's defence, she was a working woman who might have paid for the dress from her own earnings. There is also a possibility that the dress was on-loan from the designers or been gifted to her as she would bring priceless publicity for them.
In general, the shoot was very high-fashion where Harry was seen sporting a Burberry suit and Meghan wore a Victoria Beckham sweater in another photo.
