Doctors’ issues: Govt’s behaviour raising doctor’s concerns

ISLAMABAD:

Young doctors of Rawalpindi Thursday expressed concern over the Punjab government’s reluctance in disclosing the contents of the proposal drafted to meet their demands. Earlier, Young Doctors Association had been assured by the government that all their demands would be met.

At a press conference held at Rawalpindi Press Club, members of YDA led by Dr Muhammad Haroon said that the Punjab government is keeping all proposals secret from them. They also expressed disappointment after they found out that the provincial government is not increasing the health budget by the amount they had demanded.

They announced that on May 4, YDA Punjab will organise a convention in Lahore and invite all health professionals, students and civil right activists to share their views on the issue.

They also apologised for terminating medical services from emergency wards during the strike and pledged they would not do it again after the government assures them that it will not terminate doctors in the future.

Earlier, YDA Islamabad also showed suspicion over lack of response by the government with regards to implementation of their demands.
