Wide variety: Flower exhibition concludes

VC says women participation in socio-economic activities is imperative for uplift.

FAISALABAD: The Annual Chrysanthemum and Autumn Flower Exhibition, which was arranged by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has concluded.  The exhibition featured dozens of different stalls of flowers bustling with colours and creative ideas.

The exhibition was arranged by the Institute of Horticulture Sciences, UAF, a press release issued by the university stated.

The concluding ceremony was chaired by UAF Vice-Chancellor Iqbal Zafar, while National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Director Shahid Mansoor, Faculty of Agriculture Dean Dr Muhammad Amjad, Institute of Horticulture Sciences Director Amanullah Malik, Public Relations and Publication Principal Officer Jalal Arif, Iftikhar Ahmad and other notables also attended the ceremony.

More than 100 varieties of Chrysanthemum and autumn flowers were put on display that was decorated by 20 educational and research institutes. The event attracted flower lovers, who thronged the university in large numbers to have the glimpse of autumn flowers.

The gathering also paid homage to the martyrs of Army Public School.

While addressing the participants, UAF Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said, “We have to spread the fragrance of brotherhood and work collectively for the uplift of our homeland.”

He added that the flowers provide the message of love and peace. The VC stressed the need to end differences and promote unity among all segments of society with the colors of love and brotherhood as per the teachings of Islam.

Meanwhile, the vice-chancellor said that women empowerment and their participation in the socio-economic activities was imperative for development and to compete with the rest of the world.

He expressed these views while addressing the welcome ceremony for newly admitted boarder girl students at the UAF. He said it was need of the hour to increase the literacy rate in the country. He added women were excelling in every field of life.

He said the education works as engine of growth to address social and economic issue. He lauded the government for taking initiatives for the cause of women emancipation.
