ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Thursday constituted special teams to check traffic violations and ensure use of pattern number plates, seats belts during drive and helmets by motorcyclists. A total of 30 pickets would be erected in various areas of the city to check traffic violations as the campaign was already underway, police source said. According to the source, 26,547 motorists having non-compliant number plates on their vehicles had been fined during the on-going year. Likewise, 39,740 motorists were fined for not fastening seat belts, 24,241 for using mobile phones while driving, 127,331 for not using helmets during bike ride in 2017. On the other hand, 47,828 citizens were educated about traffic rules during this campaign so far.
