The MoU was inked by UAF Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Iqbal Zafar and FIC Executive Director Dr Anjum Jalal. UAF Faculty of Food Sciences Masood Sadiq Butt, FIC Medical Superintendent Rai Zulfiqar Ali, National Institute of Food Science and Technology UAF Director General Dr Tahir Zahoor and others were also present.
As part of the agreement, both institutions will exchange human resources and will develop research collaborations. The organisations will jointly arrange conferences on health and nutrition issues and would assist each other to address health issues facing the mankind.
Nutrition should be made part of syllabus: experts
While speaking on the occasion, UAF Vice-Chancellor Iqbal Zafar said that there was a need to expedite efforts for the welfare of mankind. He said that diseases were spreading in our society due to changing lifestyle, eating habits, and climate changes. He said, “New trends are being witnessed in the eateries and 50% of the population is facing malnutrition which is a matter of concern.”
Anjum Jalal said that dietary patterns were changing in the society rapidly which were also one of the reasons for the increasing health issues.
