Traffic police official shot, injured

The injured official was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where his condition was termed out of danger

KARACHI: A traffic police official was shot and injured by unidentified motorcyclists in Nazimabad on Wednesday.

The incident took place near Larosh restaurant on Ibne Sina Road in Nazimabad No 4 when Sub-Inspector Irshad, son of Shaukat Ali, signalled a truck to stop. Suddenly, the motorcyclists came from behind the truck and attacked the traffic police official and snatched his weapon. The perpetrators shot Irshad with the official weapon at his leg and fled the scene.

The injured official was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where his condition was termed out of danger. In his statement, he said the incident occurred while he was trying to manage traffic in order to make way for the squad of the additional IG.

According to Central SSP Irfan Baloch, the suspects did not steal a mobile phone or any other belonging from Irshad. Police have collected a pistol's shell from the scene and further investigations are under way.
