ISLAMABAD: Zarai Taraqiati Bank limited (ZTBL) and National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday in order to increase their outreach to small scale farmers of the country for enhancing their productivity.

The agreement was signed by ZTBL President Syed Talat Mehmood and NRSP Chief Executive Officer Rashid Bajwa. Addressing the ceremony, Mehmood said that the aim of the deal was to focus on small-scale farmers and empower them financially so that they may be able to purchase quality inputs, which can in turn maximise output.

He said that the collaboration of both organisations would further strengthen the efforts to bring the innovations in the field of agriculture by introducing mechanisation and resource efficient methodologies.

The ZTBL has so far disbursed an amount of Rs80.337 billion among the farmers during the period from January to October 2017 in order to fulfil the credit requirements of the farming community across the country.
