Students who could not secure admission in government medical colleges, rush towards these private medical colleges for admission where they are allegedly fleeced.
Taking notice of the issue, the Chief Justice has sought within a week a detailed report from the registrar of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) — the apex regulator of medical education in the country — on the admission criterion of private medical colleges, fee structure and schedule, maximum fees allowed to be charged, the role of PMDC in regulating admissions and fees charged by private medical colleges, and any action in this regard taken by the regulator thus far.
