This was disclosed in a meeting which was held at commissioner’s office to review the uplift projects in Bahawalpur on Sunday. During the meeting, 557 new and 224 existing schemes were reviewed.
On the occasion, the additional commissioner directed the officials to speed up the pace of work on improving the performance of installation of traffic signals throughout Bahawalpur City.
He expressed dissatisfaction over increase in traffic problems due to traffic signals and instructed the officials concerned to bring improvements to the design of signals so that problems being faced by the people could be rectified.
Deconstructing Bahawalpur accident
During the meeting, 262 new projects of highway department and 62 other schemes were reviewed.
The additional commissioner also reviewed public health engineering department’s 157 schemes, school education’s 54 new and three old schemes, 13 projects of higher education, 49 schemes of Cjolistan Development Authority, 13 projects of health department, six schemes of forest department and others.
Earlier, funds worth Rs4.12 billion were approved for 76 ongoing development schemes while Rs676 million were allocated for 13 new projects under the Annual Development Programme 2017-18 in Bahawalpur Division.
Of the amount, Rs450 million were earmarked for 14 on-going schemes of higher education department, while three new projects would also commence with a cost of Rs85 million.
Regarding special education schemes, Rs85 million were allocated for three projects that were underway. APP
