He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of Unique Group of Institutions at Al-Hamra Hall on Thursday. Students, faculty members and a large number of people from the education sector attended the event.

"It's mandatory to maintain cooperation between public and private sector institutions for a more educated nation," he said.
The minister said the higher education department is supporting students through several programmes like laptop distribution, scholarship awards and co-curricular activities.
He added that keeping in view the significance of highly qualified faculty, they have established a teachers' training academy. The minister said thousands of lecturers and assistant professors were appointed this year across the province.

Gillani said that a comprehensive higher education policy was being finalised to ensure that Pakistani universities could be developed as international standard institutions of research and innovation where quality education could help the students excel. "In the first phase, it is my mission to bring five top public sector universities of the Punjab in the QS Ranking and the government is committed to providing equal opportunities of getting a high-quality education to the youth.
