Five of a family fall unconscious after consuming toxic food

FAISALABAD: At least four people, including a minor girl were killed in different incidents in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

A police official said that Rizwan, and his friends Farooq, Saif, Hassan and others resorted to aerial firing in front of their rival Ali Raza in Chak No 433-GB, within Sitiana police station precincts.

He added during the firing, a bullet hit 14-year-old Muqaddas, daughter of Mazhar Hussain, who was standing on the roof of her house. She suffered bullet injuries and died on the spot.

In another incident, 22-year-old Hafiz Salman, a resident of Chak No 215-RB, within Saddar police station limits, was shot dead by his fiancee’s brothers. The police took both bodies into custody and started investigation.

Burnt to death

A minor girl was burnt to death in a local village. Allied hospital officials said that four-year-old Rizwana, a resident of Mouza Jewna, was playing outside her home when her clothes caught fire. As a result, she suffered fatal burn injuries and died on the spot. The police said the victim was playing near the fire that was lit from husk of sugarcane to beat cold when the incident occurred.

Road accidents

A man was killed in a road accident in the area of Civil Lines police station.

A police official said that 23-year-old Abrar Ahmad, a resident of Chak No 119-JB, and his brothers Waqar and Faheem Ali, were returning home after shopping when a speedy loader hit their motorcycle near Ambanwali Pulli. As a result, Abrar died on the spot while his brothers were injured. The injured were shifted to Allied Hospital for treatment.

The police have arrested the accused driver.

Toxic food

At least five members of a family were hospitalised after taking toxic food in the area of Dijkot police station.      The police said that family members of Amir Shah, residents of Chak No 250-RB, consumed food and fell unconscious. The victims were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

The police said the food was toxic due to which the condition of victims deteriorated. The victims were identified as 21-year-old Tehreem, Bilal, Almas, Saira and Maryam.

Valuables robbed

Unidentified robbers deprived a local trader of Rs2.5 million in the area of Saddar police station. A police official said local trader Rana Umair, a resident of Chak No 209-RB, was riding a motorcycle when two armed motorcyclists intercepted him at Jaranwala Road and snatched cash at gunpoint.

The police registered a complaint and launched search for the culprits.

Beggars rounded up

The teams of social welfare department rounded up 18 beggars from various roads and markets of the city.

The team, led by Incharge Kanwal Shahzadi, caught beggars, including 11 males and seven females from Susan Road, Bashir Nizami Road, University Chowk, Narrwala Chowk, Ghulam Muhammad Abad, Jhang Bazaar, Satiana Road, Koh-e-Noor Chowk etc.

Gamblers arrested

Thikriwala police arrested eight people on gambling charges and seized bet money and other items from their possession.

A police official said that Thikriwala police team conducted raid at a snooker club in Pensara and nabbed eight people, including Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Asghar, Muneer Ahmad, Rashid and others over gambling charges. The accused were sent behind bars for further investigation..
