‘Good news for health workers is coming soon’

Health minister says collective efforts essential to eradicate diseases from societ.

LAHORE: Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir announced that all contractual staff of the health department would be regularised so that workers would work hard to create awareness in far-flung areas of the province.

He stated this while talking to the media persons on the occasion of Health Awareness Walk from Liberty Chowk to Hussain Chowk Gulberg on Sunday.

The awareness walk was organised by the Health Department in connection with District Health Conventions which were being celebrated across the province from 2nd to 11th December.

He said that in order to regularise the contractual dengue workers, steps were being taken to introduce pay scales and service structure to the lady health workers and lady health visitors.

He said that good news for the workers would be coming soon.

The minister said that holding of health conventions at district level across the province was to create awareness among the people and to sensitise them regarding the tremendous developments and achievements being made in the health sector.

Nazir said that collective efforts by the government, people and health workers were essential to eradicating diseases from society.

He pointed out that the top priority of the government was to protect people from the diseases and to create a healthy society in Punjab for which solid steps had been taken at all levels.

He said that after setting up two separate health departments, special focus was being paid on the prevention of disease programme.

He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his personal interest, the health sector in Punjab was tremendously improving due to which quality health services were being provided to the people of the province. The level of awareness among the masses regarding health was also increasing, he said.
