Agriculture Sector: Experts call for improved value chains

'There is a need to promote the latest trends in the agriculture sector'

Experts called for increased efforts to develop and promote value chains in the agriculture sector that will not only help alleviate poverty but also fetch foreign exchange. They said this while addressing the International Symposium on Global Value Chains Decent Work Deficit in Agriculture: Present Challenges and Future Prospects arranged by Institute of Business Management Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Saturday. IBA University Sukkur Vice Chancellor Nisar Ahmad Siddique said that agricultural is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and is contributing 20% to Gross Domestic Product. He said that there is a need to promote the latest trends in the agriculture sector in order to alleviate poverty and to increase productivity in the country.
