The prosecution told the court that accused Tanveer Ahmad, a resident of Nimtaas Village, had murdered his brother Shahid Amir over a property dispute. However, the police arrested him and submitted a challan in the court.
After hearing witnesses, the judge awarded death penalty to Tanveer. In addition, the court imposed a fine of Rs0.2 million on the convict.
Earlier on October 27, 2017, a court awarded death sentence to a convict for his involvement in a murder case in Sargodha. The judgment was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Zulfiqar Ali.
SHC orders fresh trial in Shahzeb Khan murder case
Convict Nasrullah, a resident of Chak No 162/NB, and his accomplices Nasir, Jevan Shah, Kaleem and Baqar Shah had gunned down a man Sarfaraz, over litigation matters on September 5, 2014.
The local police registered a case and presented the challan before the court. After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to Nasrullah with a fine of Rs1 million as compensation money. However, the court acquitted all the four co-accused giving them the benefit of doubt.
Man sentenced to six years
An accountability court awarded six years imprisonment to a man for his involvement in a fraud case in Multan.
The prosecution told the court that accused Waqas Qureshi and his brothers were running a company namely Khadiya and looted many people in the name of doubling their money as profit on investment.
During interrogation, the accused also confessed to committing the offence. After hearing the statements and considering the evidence, the court handed down six years imprisonment to Waqas and imposed a fine of Rs20 million on him.
Court suspends execution of mentally-challenged man
The court also declared nine co-accused, including Aleem Rafiq, Faisal Qureshi, Ali Qureshi, Wajid, Ghazala and others as absconders in the case.
Earlier on July 31, special judge of an anti-corruption court awarded 65 years collective rigorous imprisonment and fine to three officials, including an executive engineer of highways over corruption charges.
