Lahore sit-in: Jalali threatens Qisas movement from 12th Rabiul Awwal

Claims 45 people were killed in Nov 26 crackdown; asks govt to hand over the bodies

LAHORE: The Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah has said that since the Punjab government is not responding to its demands, it will continue its sit-in and celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi on Lahore’s Mall Road in front of the Punjab Assembly.

“On 12^th Rabiul Awwal, there will be a flood of millions of people on the Mall Road, who can initiate Qisas movement against the government on my single call,” said the Tehreek’s Patron-in-Chief, Maulana Ashraf Asif Jalali on Wednesday.



Jalali was addressing a press conference in which he claimed that during the police crackdown on protesters in Islamabad, more than 45 people were killed and that their bodies were still in the government’s custody.

“According to our own reckoning, there are more than 45 people who were killed during the government crackdown. The government must hand over their dead bodies to us; otherwise, no one can stop us,” he threatened.

Answering a question, Jalali said he did not know why those who staged the sit-in in Faizabad called off their protest without asking for the bodies of their martyrs.

“We will not call off our sit-in. We will not sell the blood of our people. Those who were killed were Ashiqan-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwwat and Shaheed,” he added.



Jalali demanded of the government to immediately confirm death toll of the protesters and hand over the bodies for funeral. He also demanded that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah be put behind bars for his controversial statement with regard to Ahmadis.

“The government must accept our demands otherwise Ghazi Mumtaz Qadri Force will act and the government will be responsible. If I give a call for a countrywide strike today, the Aashiqan-e-Rasool will block not only all streets of the country but also the railway lines and airports within one hour,” he claimed. “On 12^th Rabiul Awwal, the government will see a flood of people,” Jalali added.
