Minister wants endowment fund for artists

LAHORE: Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Punjab Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said there was a need to create an endowment fund to help needy artists. He suggested that the government and better off artists and philanthropists should contribute to the cause.

He expressed these views while talking to media persons after handing over a cheque of Rs500,000 on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to comedian and stage artist Javed Kodoo on Wednesday. Rafiq said artists were a precious asset of society and always put their personal problems aide to entertain the local populace.

On the occasion, Javed Kodoo thanked the chief minister for providing financial assistance. Javed Kodoo also thanked Minister Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq for taking personal interest in providing financial assistance to him.
