Rangers discuss code of conduct for 12th Rabiul Awwal

Aerial firing to be dealt with seriously

KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies have decided to take action against anyone involved in aerial firing and carrying or displaying arms on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi on December 1.

The decision was taken on Tuesday at a high level meeting held at the Rangers Headquarters in Karachi which was chaired by DG Rangers Major General Muhammad Saeed. Officials and representatives from police, intelligence agencies, civil administration and the home department attended in the meeting.

DG Rangers reviewed the security plan in the meeting and a code of conduct was finalised to ensure law and order on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal. According to the plan, flag marches by Rangers and police, snap checking will take place and security personnel would be deployed for processions.



"Strict action would be taken against the violators of the code of conduct issued by the federal and provincial governments and no one would be allowed to resort to aerial firing and carrying or displaying arms," the meeting decided.

The meeting also decided that no one would be allowed to display flags belonging to controversial organisations, distribute hatred pamphlets, cassettes, CDs or shout inappropriate slogans. The participants of the meeting also appealed to scholars and clerics of all schools of thought to cooperate with the agencies and appealed to the citizens to contact the Rangers Helpline if they come across any illegal or suspicious activity.
