FIA detains four NADRA officials, three agents

A case under forgery and corruption charges has been registered against the accused persons

KARACHI: Officials of the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Karachi conducted a raid on Monday at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Defence Housing Authority mega centre over allegations of issuance of computerised national identity cards (CNICs) to foreigners against huge sums of money.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the agency arrested four NADRA officials - Superviser Nizamuddin, Data Entry Operator Qaiser Khan,  Data Entry Operator Azhar Iqbal and senior executive Sarfraz Ahmed  as well as three agents identified as Salim, Raees and Qamar.

23 NAB inquiries still pending in courts

The spokesperson added that documents collected by the agency as evidence against the suspects included manual national identity cards, freshly issued CNICs to foreigners, NADRA records and fake domiciles.

A case under forgery and corruption charges has been registered against the accused persons, said the spokesperson.
