Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Mian Javed Latif was injured in an attack in Sheikhupura on Saturday by men protesting against the crackdown on the Faizabad sit-in.

The lawmaker from NA-133 (Sheikhupura) was in the Batti Chowk area to negotiate with the protesters, Express News reported.

A policeman trying to protect the lawmaker was also injured in the attack.

The Islamabad police, aided by the Frontier Constabulary and Rangers, Saturday morning launched a crackdown on religious protesters camping at Faizabad intersection in Islamabad since November 8.

As soon as the news of the action against Tehreek-e-Labbaik protesters spread, protests broke out all across the country.

Several men protesting the Faizabad crackdown also attempted to break into the house of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar in Rawalpindi.

The irate men broke the main gate and tried to enter the premises but were confronted by police and security guards.

They chanted slogans against the government and leaders of the ruling PML-N.

In Karachi, scores of people came out on streets and blocked several roads, paralyzing the teeming metropolis. Unidentified people also forced businessmen in Orangi Town’s markets to close their shops.
