The protest against Bollywood film Padmavati has now reached a dangerous level. A body was found hanging on Friday from the fort of Nahargarho, situated 20km near Jaipur, along with threats, reported News18.

The body contained a message "Padmavati ka virodh" (Opposition against Padmavati). Another read "Hum putle nahi jalate, latkate hain" (we don’t burn effigies, we kill).

It was reported that police has started investigating. India's Karni army has condemned the incident and have said that they have nothing to do with this.

Police are yet to determine the cause of death, whether murder or suicide. The body has also not been identified yet.

The release of Bollywood movie Padmavati has been delayed as threats against movie lead actor Deepika Padukone worsen. Many Rajput groups claim it has objectionable scenes of Queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji.

The British Board of Film Certification cleared the epic historical drama for release on December 1 earlier this week. Many are speculating that the incident today may have been in reaction to that.

Protests have also broken out against the release of this film by Hindu groups. Other political outfits have demanded that its release be deferred in view of the Gujarat Assembly elections.

A senior official from India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also announced INR100 million in head money for film-maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Padukone.

Suraj Pal Amu also threatened Ranveer Singh, who plays the villain in the historical drama, that he will break his legs for working in it. “If you (Ranveer Singh) do not take back your words, we will break your legs,” he said, along with other threats and slurs.
