FC Balochistan recovers 18 hostages in Turbat IBO

The hostages include 16 foreigners, two Pakistanis

QUETTA: The Frontier Corps Balochistan recovered on Tuesday 18 hostages from a terrorist hideout in the province. Two terrorists were also apprehended.

The intelligence-based operation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), was conducted in Tump area of Turbat.

“During the operation, 18 hostages including two Pakistani and 19 foreigners (Nigerian and Yemeni) were recovered. They were kept as hostages by militants,” it said in a statement.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition including IEDs were also recovered from the hideout, the statement added.

According to sources, the abducted persons were allegedly trying to illegally enter Europe, and amidst their trip, were kidnapped.

Balochistan's Frontier Corps (FC) carried out the operation with the help of other institutional organisations. All 18 persons were recovered from a single house in the region which also had a huge cache of weapons. All weapons found were seized immediately.

The two Pakistanis were identified as Shujauddin from Lahore and Ghulam Hussain from Karachi.

Security forces have intensified raids in the province following the killings of 15 men from Punjab last week. The bullet-riddled bodies were found by the Levies from Buleda area of Kech district near the Pakistan-Iran border of Gurok.
