“I want to play for Pakistan but my financial position is compelling me to think of surrendering my nationality,” said the dejected boxer in a video message from Karachi, Express News reported.
“I may apply for the citizenship of Korea or the United States,” he added.
'Sponsorless' Waseem on brink of quitting Pakistan
The 30-year-old Waseem went on to say: “I have been facing so many problems as don’t have a sponsor. I will soon take part in a fight for an international title and that may be my last competition for the country.”
The Quetta-born boxer has played eight professional fights and won all of them.
