Court rejects Moonis Elahi's bail plea on medical grounds

LAHORE: The Banking Court of Lahore rejected Pakistan Muslim League –Quaid (PML-Q) leader Moonis Elahi 's bail application on Monday.

Moonis is presently under house arrest where he filed a bail plea on medical grounds that he was unfit to endure house arrest.

Moonis was brought to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology for a medical check-up under high security on the direction of the home secretary.

Dr. Azhar of the PIC medically examined Moonis Elahi and referred him for further tests.

On the bases of further medical investigations by PIC at the behest of the Banking Court he was not found to be medically unfit.

Moonis, son of former chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has been confined in the National Database and Registration Authority rest house under judicial remand since March 17, when the Punjab Government declared it a sub jail.

Sources said that two cases have been registered in the Banking Court by FIA in which the accused, Moonis Elahi, allegedly used his bank accounts for the illegal transfer of funds in the NICL scam.
