Seventy shops, 3 houses gutted in Chitral market fire

It took hours to put out the fire which enveloped the entire Drosh Market

At least 70 shops and three houses were burned to ashes in Chitral's Drosh Market when a fire broke out on Friday, Express News reported.

The fire brigade service reached the incident site on receiving the information and tried to put out the conflagration which by then had enveloped at least 70 shops and three houses adjacent to the market.

It couldn’t be ascertained how the fire broke out.

Rescue services, police personnel and volunteers took hours to extinguish the fire which engulfed the entire market.

According to the shop owners, all valuable items stored inside have been destroyed resulting in huge losses for them.

The area addition deputy commissioner and an officer of disaster management visited the incident site.

The investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire has been initiated.
