Caravan visits archaeological sites in K-P

People participating in a day-long “Heritage Caravan” take keen interest in ancient Buddhists and Gandhara relics.

About 101 people participating in a day-long “Heritage Caravan” took keen interest in ancient Buddhists and Gandhara relics.


They were taken to historical and ancient archaeological sites in Takht Bahi, Shahbaz Garhi, and Swat Hunt Museum. Dr Abdul Samad, consultant at the directorate, headed the guided tour. The 101 members’ heritage caravan comprised senior citizens, families, and teenagers.

About the heritage caravan, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Archaeology and Tourism Syed Aqil Shah, said that the government is keen to promote archaeology both at national and international level. He added that preservation work on the world heritage site at Takht Bahi is going in full swing.

The trip was organised by the Provincial Directorate of Archaeology and Museums in collaboration with Tourism Corporation, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa under their heritage awareness programme.
