Move will help resolve traffic problem in Multan

MULTAN: Citizens heaved a sigh of relief as the district courts have been shifted from Katchehry Chowk to Judicial Complex at Mattital Road. Citizens lauded the initiative as establishment of district courts in the centre of the city caused traffic problems for the citizens.

Civil Society Network Multan and Awaz District Forum appreciated the initiative of district and session judge, district administration and police department.

District courts’ record shifted to new location

While speaking to The Express Tribune, Awaz District Forum chairperson Khalid Mahmood Qureshi and civil society members said that transfer of district courts outside the city would help in resolving the traffic problems. They said commuters had been facing problems due to traffic blockade the whole day.

Advocate Shahbaz Ali Gurmani said, “The area was always at security risk because of district courts. He added the risk will now be eliminated with the shifting of district courts to the new Judicial Complex.”

Dr Farooq Langha told The Express Tribune that the move would benefit young lawyers and also the complainants. He advised the protesting lawyers to take charge of their duties at new Judicial Complex for the ease of the masses.

Civil society activists said that lawyers should accept this positive change and move towards the future to ensure superiority of law above personal motives.

Earlier, District and Sessions Judge Ameer Muhammad Khan inaugurated the new Judicial Complex spread at an area of 800 kanal.

While addressing the inaugural session, he said that better facilities would be provided to the people at new judicial complex. He said that many lawyers were attending the courts, while others would join them soon.  A large number of session judges, additional session judges and judicial magistrates were present on the occasion.

Banners were displayed by district administration and courts to facilitate the people and for general guidance. In wake of lawyers’ protest against the decision, heavy contingent of police were deployed at Katchehry Chowk to avert any untoward incident.
