The robbery was committed during the daytime when the MQM-Pakistan Coordination Committee member along with his family members was present at his residence located on Khayaban-e-Saadi in Defence. Six armed robbers entered the house and stole cash, gold ornaments and other valuables, holding the family members at gunpoint.
According to the family, the stolen cash and items were worth Rs600,000. The dacoits escaped after committing the robbery.

Upon receiving the information, police reached the site and inquired about the incident. According to officials, the former provincial minister suspected his gardener of having facilitated the dacoits. Kaimkhani also informed the police that the bandits had covered their faces to hide their identities and took a mere 15 minutes to rob the house.
No case had been registered till the filing of this news story. The police officials said they were waiting for the complainant to register the case. In the meantime, Sindh Inspector-General of Police Allah Dino Khawaja took notice of the robbery and sought a report from the South DIG regarding the incident.
