ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Ansar Aziz and Ambassador of Argentina Ivan Ivanissevich inaugurated tree plantation drive at Argentina Park on Tuesday.

Aziz said that Argentine Park was developed as token of friendship between the two countries. In order to make this park lush green, more plant species are being added.

“It is encouraging to note that not only departments concerned and residents are making Islamabad greener but the diplomats residing in the federal capital are also participating in the process,” the mayor appreciated. Ambassador Ivanissevich said Argentina Park was inaugurated on May 23, 1973, and two days later the recently elected president, Hector Campora, was handed over the presidency by General Lanusse, after nearly seven years of military dictatorship.

The inauguration of President Campora was also attended by the federal Minister Hayat Khan Sherpao, as a special envoy of then president Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
