An 18-month-old child was sexually assaulted allegedly by her father's friend who was babysitting her at her home in Shahpur Jat area of Delhi, India on Monday.
The suspect has been taken into custody by police, according to Hindustan Times
The police say the girl's parents left the girl with the alleged assailant and went to their respective workplaces.
The suspect, a friend and colleague of the girl’s father in a private security company, resides with them.
“He [the suspect] came back after night duty while the girl’s father left home for his morning duty. Her mother and siblings also left and finding the child alone, the man sexually assaulted her,” said a senior police officer.
Four-year-old sexually assaulted ‘by cleric’
When the girl's mother returned home in the evening, she found the child crying and bleeding from her genitals.
She took the child to a nearby hospital where it was ascertained that she was sexually assaulted. The 21-year-old suspect is unmarried.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police South Chinmoy Biswal said a case had been registered against the suspect. The police, however, did not disclose his name.
