Tarbela Dam: Extension project nears completion 

He urged the project management team, consultants and contractors to maintain close liaison among them

LAHORE: The Tarbela 4th Extension Hydroelectric Power Project would be commissioned in February 2018 with the start of operations of its first unit, announced Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Muzammil Hussain during a visit to the project site on Monday.

The project’s second unit will come on line by the end of April 2018 and the third unit will start working by the end of May The Wapda chairman said 1,410 megawatts of low-cost and environment-friendly hydel electricity would be added to the national grid with phased completion of the Tarbela 4th Extension Project from February to May 2018, which would help mitigate power shortages in the country.

He urged the project management team, consultants and contractors to maintain close liaison among them to meet project timelines without compromising on the stipulated standards of quality in construction work.
