Special team to probe DIG’s killing in suicide attack

Forensic Agency experts visited the explosion site and collected pieces of evidence

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has constituted a special team to probe into the suicide attack in which DIG Telecommunications Hamid Shakeel Sabir and two other police personnel were martyred and many others got injured.

According to official sources, a senior police officer, Jawad Alam, will head the investigation team while senior officers from special branch, CTD and members of other concerned authorities will be the part of special team.

A three-member team of Forensic Agency experts arrived in Quetta to investigate the attack on the official’s vehicle.

The experts also visited the explosion site, along with Balochistan police officers, and collected pieces of evidence. They will submit the report to the interior ministry which will forward it to home department.

The team constituted by the concerned authorities will extend all help and cooperation to the forensic team.

Meanwhile, security forces have taken several suspects in custody for interrogation regarding the attack in Quetta. Three members of a banned organisation had also been killed by the forces on Thursday night during an operation to search the culprits in Nawan Killi area of Quetta.
