LAHORE: Nawaz Sharif’s remarks about the Supreme Court were a declaration of war against the judiciary, said Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on Friday.  However, he added that the accountability process initiated by the court will not stop due to the ousted prime minister’s outbursts.

The Senator, while addressing the heads of JI’s Public Relations wings from all over the country at Mansoora, said that instead of glancing over his past and extending a helping hand to the Supreme Court Sharif was threatening the apex court.

The JI chief said that Nawaz Sharif’s remarks had shocked the common man in the country who could not even imagine that a person who had held the office of the prime minister, for three times, would stoop so low.

Haq also made it clear that corruption could not be wiped out without a permanent and strong accountability system, adding that a ruthless accountability of the plunderers was the demand of the entire nation as also the need of the hour.

The Senator told his party members that the government had so far not taken any action against elements behind the bid to amend the laws relating to the Khatm-e-Nubuwwat. He said that neither the report of Raja Zafrul Haq committee has been made public nor the culprits have been identified.

Referring to the FATA merger, Haq said that the government was continuously cheating the people of tribal areas by delaying the merger with Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa. He said, the tribal people would not withdraw from their demand and it would be better for the rulers to honour their word.
