LAHORE: The opposition benches strongly condemned the government’s decision to not repair filtration plants of the Housing Department.

An adjournment motion submitted by opposition leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed on Friday demanded a fair inquiry and audit of the project.

The Punjab government has decided to launch a new project of installing filtration plants rather than repairing old ones.

He added that the housing department merely declared all filtration plants dysfunctional to make the newly launched project of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif a success.

He said those filtration plants installed by the public health engineering deparmtent would be replaced at a whopping cost of US$60 million. He added that the old filtration plants would be fall into ruin if not repaired on time.

Rasheed also demanded the government create public awareness about the allocation of US$60 million for the new project.
