LAHORE: Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has announced that it would start a shuttle bus service for the second phase of the Raiwind congregation.

A spokesman for the LTC said the company has decided that it would run 25 minibuses, in collaboration with private bus operators, to facilitate commuters from November 9 to 15.

“These buses will operate on two routes with two regular routes being realigned for smooth operation of the shuttle service,” he said.

“In this regard, the enforcement wing of the LTC has indicated it would monitor the shuttle service by deputing transport enforcement inspectors at different locations along re-aligned routes specifically for the Raiwind congregation.”

He said the main objective of this shuttle service was to provide adequate transport facilities for commuters coming to attend this annual congregation in anticipation of heavy presence of participants of the congregation in contrast to what has been perceived as patchy transport coverage for the congregation in previous years.

In consonance with this operational plan, these minibuses will operate on two parallel routes starting from Haider Saien Darbar General Bus Stand and bus bays outside the Railway Station.

Route 1 will commence from General Bus Stand via Azadi Chowk, Secretariat, Chauburji, Samnabad Morr, Yateem Khana, Thokar Niaz Baig, Bhobtian Chowk and M Ali Chowk to Raiwind congregation, while on Route No 2 mini buses will be moving between General Bus Stand via Railway Station, Dharampura, Canal Road, Muslim Town Morr, Thokar Niaz Baig, Bhobatian Chowk and Muhammad Ali Chowk and onward to Raiwind.
