FAISALABAD: A bandit was killed in an encounter with Gulberg police in Faisalabad.

A police official said that Eagle Squad members Waseem and Ali Nawaz noticed two suspicious persons riding a motorcycle near Mubarak Chowk, GC University. They signalled the suspects to stop. However, they opened indiscriminate fire on the police.

As a result, Constable Waseem suffered bullet injuries. However, Ali Nawaz returned the fire and a shoot-out occurred. During the encounter, one suspect was killed while his accomplice fled the scene.

The deceased bandit was identified as Asif, son of Sardar, a resident of Gujranwala. The accused was wanted to the police in a number of crime incidents.

Meanwhile, CIA police nabbed 29 criminals in October and recovered motorcycles, cars, cattle, weapons and other items worth Rs11.641 million from their possession.

While addressing a press conference, SP CIA Headquarters Nasir Sial said that CIA police traced 65 cases and busted 10 notorious gangs of bandits, robbers, cattle and vehicle lifters.
