ADRC resolves 362 disputes in five months

Judge says Faisalabad centre tops the chart in Punjab

FAISALABAD: On the orders of Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, the Alternate Dispute Resolution Centre (ADRC) has resolved 362 disputes through negotiations from June 1 to October 31 in Faisalabad District.

This was disclosed by District & Sessions Judge Muhammad Abdul Nasir while addressing a seminar which was held at District Courts. Additional District & Sessions Judge Ghulam Rasool, District Bar Association President Rana Ali Abbas, Secretary Mehran Tahir, Senior Civil Judge Usman Ali Awan, civil judges, judiciary officers and lawyers were also present on the occasion.

The district and sessions judge said that 432 cases were filed before the ADRC during the last five months and of them, 90 cases were now pending after reaching reconciling in 362 disputes.

He said that Faisalabad District ADRC was on first position in Punjab in quick resolving the disputes. He lauded the role of local lawyers, who advised the complainants to file their dispute cases before the ADRC.

He said that cases pending for years could now be resolved within hours through ADRC.

President District Bar Association Rana Ali Abbas appreciated the establishment of the ADRC and assured full cooperation from District Bar Association. Senior Civil Judge Usman Ali Awan, Secretary Bar Association Mehran Tahir and others also spoke on the occasion.

The ADRC mostly deals with civil and family cases. However, compoundable criminal cases were also settled at the centre.

All parties approached ADRC with their free will and conduct different sessions are conducted separately with the parties to discuss possible options for resolution of their disputes. The mediators also give them time to think about their options and consult anyone else they want to reach a conclusion. Once a case is successfully mediated, the decision is final as no opportunity for appeal is left. The judges deputed as mediators had undergone special training before joining the ADRCs.
