LAHORE: Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that children were the most precious asset of the nation and parents should get their kids vaccinated against polio to provide them a healthy future. The minister said that by administering two polio drops to every child, they could be protected from a lifelong disability. He expressed these views while talking to the media after inaugurating a three-day anti polio campaign in Lahore at Government Mianmir Hospital on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Syed Sumair Ahmed, Mayor Col (Retd) Mubasher Javed, Health CEO Dr Yudullah and other staff of the hospital were present on this occasion. Nazir informed that the anti-polio campaign would continue till November 8, 2017. During the drive, more than 1.7 million children below five years of age will be administered polio drops. More than 4,000 polio teams have been formed and will visit door-to-door to administer polio drops to the children, he added. Nazir said that if the polio team did not reach any house, parents should take responsibility and bring their children to the nearby immunisation centre for vaccination.
